Definition

Static groups (also called Manual Groups) are groups which contains an exclusive list of devices. Devices within a static group cannot exist within any other static group.

Manual groups are intended to show devices contained within a static location such as country, region etc.

Creating static groups

To create a static group, right-click All Devices on the device tree, and then select Add Static Group.

Static groups can be added at the root level (All Devices) or as a sub-group of an existing group

Creating Sub-Groups

To create a sub-group, right-click on the Group you want to create a sub-group in and then select Add Sub-Group.

You can create upto 7 levels of sub-groups

Note: you can add a dynamic group into a static group. please refer to the dynamic group section for learning about dynamic grouping.

Adding & removing Devices

Adding devices to a static group

Upon enrollment, devices will normally be automatically added to the Unassigned group, located at the bottom of the Device tree. To add a device to the appropriate group, drag-and-drop the device into the target group.

To move multiple devices into a group, select them first by ticking their check boxes, and then drag-and-drop them into the target group.

Removing devices from a static Group

Devices cannot be deleted from a static group. To remove a device from a static group, either drag-and-drop the selected device to the Unassigned group, or un-enroll the device from proVconnect Server. Un-enrolling a device removes it from all groups.

Notes: by a simple right click on a group, you can rename it or delete it.

Deleting a group will automatically move the devices contained in the group into the unassigned group.

You can also unenroll all devices. please refer to the unenroll section for details about unerollment.

A device cannot belong to 2 static groups at the same time.
