Remote Control

Presentation

Remote control is a must for all companies to be able to remotely see the session on a device.

Summary

Why SSL secured VNC

Most users are familiar with tools such as Teamviewer or Anydesk but because these softwares are running the session remotely on an uncontroled server, most customers are not satisfied with it.

at Wanpulse we have made the choice to use the VNC technology but we modified the code so :

  • Unlike with standard VNC solutions, you do not need to have a port in listening mode on the end point
  • We have secured the connection through an encrypted channel (see the networking diagram here)
  • We made it impossible to initiate a VNC session from anywhere else than the proVconnect server

Initiate the connection

To initiate the remote control, from the device list right click on the device you want to remote control and select "remote desktop (VNC)

note that only online devices can be remote controled

Autorized connections

Once the device is ready for the session (a few seconds later) you can see an arrow on top of the proVconnect server

Selecting the device to connect to

Clicking on this arrow, you can see the list of devices you can open the remote control session to

by clicking on the magnifier you will only view the session, you wll not be able to interact with the remote device

by clicking on the host names you will have full control of the remote device

by clicking on the cross you will close the connection

once you close the remote session, the VNC service is switched OFF on the remote device preventing anyone to remote control a device outside the console environment
